Our Story

Executive Director, BSW Social Work, MPA Public Administration Doctorate Student-Spiritual Formation and Direction
I’m Angela Scott, founder and Executive Director of Zarephath Village (pronounced 'zehr·fath'). With almost 25 years in the field of social work, I am passionate about helping families thrive. Throughout my years in public service and personal experience, I’ve realized that there are many barriers to self-sufficiency when leaving an abusive environment. To help burst those barriers I founded Zarephath Village Inc.
The heart behind us
Zarephath Village is based on the story in the Bible of Elijah who visited the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:8-16.
We never get to know her name, but the story is an important reminder of 3 things; the testing of her faith, hospitality to strangers and God’s faithfulness and provision.
What God did through Elijah, in the story is our goal for Zarephath Village; to be a resource for women and children who have fled abusive environments, by serving, stabilizing and strengthening them through providing for their short-term needs.
